sorry, computer glitch

since it's specifically designed to reduce the urine crystals in cats. Plus, they do a lot of research work with my alma mater :)!!

MLE/QIR,

You guys, this is awesome. Thanks for the heads up about Natura (California Natural and Innova Evo is made by the same company). I think we're going to try the Innova EVO since

Some other brands of cat food you might want to look at are

Innova EVO
Wysong Uretic Feline Diet
Primal frozen raw food:
http://www.primalpetfoods.com/feline/raw_frozen_formula.htm
Royal Canin Urinary SO canned food:
http://www.royalcanin.us/products/productdetail.aspx?ID=107

Science Diet is a profit center for many vets and they push push push it. However, you'll see a lot of things you won't like if you look at the ingredient list. Most cats hate that food.

Good luck with Dr. J.

Our male cat (also J, fwiw) has similar issues, but he eats the Science Diet C/D version. Maybe your J would like that kind more? We also have had him on antidepressants for a couple of months now, and that seems to have helped even more than the fancy food.

We, um, feed our cats really expensive food - but it has paid off because 1. they never, ever need to go to the vet, and 2. they are healthy and have shiny coats. The stuff we get is called California Natural Chicken and Brown Rice (dry food) http://www.californianaturalpet.com/products/default.asp?id=72 and we get it in the really big bags so we only buy food maybe once every 8-10 weeks. I think it only has five ingredients or something and none of them are corn or any of the other grains that can exacerbate UTI issues. Maybe something to look into in the future? I mean, if you feel like spoiling him even more.

My parents cats are as low-maintenance as yours 0 & C. But when I tried that, my cat scratched out half the fur on his face and head in the ensuing allergic reaction. Not a good look for him, poor dear.

Not sure if you remember, but the cat also only has one eye (from contracting FHV) and the ensuing upper respiratory problems. He isn't super hardy to begin with, which is probably why he requires more coddling.

But I picked him and am attached to him now so them's the breaks. The Science Diet prescription food isn't substantially more expensive than the regular adult cat food.

Me too Olivia. Mine live on Purina and a spoonful of Tuna. Water is from a bowl. But they do go outside and get to play hunter so I guess that balances things.
