Well, they got on the Bollywood choreography train last year and tonight we had kathak! I’d also like to see other international dancers come on as the special guests. African styles of dance, bharat natyam…hey, maybe we could even get some capoeira going. Better than the terrible musical guests they have on the show.
Addendums:
1) Ugh to tossing off the best ballroom dancers and a versatile guy with good partnering skills.
2) More Shane Sparks! Too bad the contemps don’t do his routines much justice. I’m hoping he gets the chance to choreograph the Boogie Bots girl at some point.
3) Jason looks like my brother-in-law!

Okay, I would have watched THAT episode. Darn it.
Sidenote: I was goofin’ around with Anjali awhile back and doing my atrocious “white girl does desi dance” moves. Watching Anjali trying to do the exaggerated hand moves was hilarious (even funnier than her Scottish highland kicking dance moves). I think she might be ready for dance next year, actually. Do girls start Indian dance at 3 like they do the American dance? Of course, Manoj has no idea, although he is on board with Anju taking dance, at least.

I LOVE SYTYCD. And I love that Indian dance has invaded the show. I hope they keep bringing it on from all over the world.

I missed the first half of last night’s show, so I missed the Indian dancing.
I agree, the show should have more dancing and fewer terrible “singers” (that girl could not have been more obviously lip synching last night if she’d tried).

Cagey-my sister started bharat natyam at 9, when we moved to Boston, but we both started ballet really young. 4 or 5, maybe? I think 3 or 4 was the youngest for my sister’s bharat natyam class. The little babies look so adorable doing it. Also, you could enroll both the As. They are usually dying for boys.

Actually in my op when they do the Bollywood thing somehow it sucks… every movement is exaggerated …
